Hitchhike 1, 2, 3

 

Produced in 1972, this series was shot on the first generation of portable video equipment. The camera was taken into previously inaccessible places and documented small, private events while they were unfolding. This nascent experiment was a harbinger of reality TV. The series was featured in the French Canadian magazine, “24images,” in their issue “50 Ans d’Art Video.” In the 50 years of video art, Hitchhiking is listed as one of the first notable examples. It has been screened extensively in Canada and Europe.
